Vortex S-Line

I'm having trouble finding a definitive answer on a speed controller that will work with the Vortex S-Line. I keep hearing that if you use the a speed controller the fan will start to hum. I'm looking for the most silent fan I can find. The girls are starting to stank.

I have a sunleaves windtunnel and all you can hear is air movement. Buy a variac for speed control (a normal speed controller is only compatible with certain fans and if your fan isn't compatible, it is very bad for the fan).

@Big Trees do you have a speed controller on your fan?
I use a 3amp variac which lowers the voltage hence lowering the speed of the fan, On half power you can't hear a thing at all. A normal speed controller usually makes the fan hum based on the motor. I would give you more info on it but I completely forgot everything I researched when buying this stuff over a year ago lol.

When I had a CAP valueline fan, the speed controller made it hum like a bitch. It all depends on the motor, but you'll be safe with a variac either way, if price is no object. You can also build a box to put the fan in to reduce noise.
