Voidlings First Cab

So I built this cab last year and slowly adding and subtracting from it since.

On the bottom is my grow cabs. On the left is for flower and is 28inx17in and 30 in tall. The right is for mothers/clones/veg and is 20"x17" and 30in tall.

The flower side was intended to run 6 to 8 55w pl-l lamps vertically. The mother side is running two 23 watt and two 26w cfl bulbs at the moment.

Still setting up proper ventilation and odor control. Currently only the smaller side is running and it has a 120mm pc fan being powered by a 5v 0.7a wallwart. I'm currently running this fan http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1164&ID=1729#Tab1 , it lists max pressure but not static pressure. I'm hoping that it'll be able to push through carbon filter, I've still got to figure out how I'm going to make a filter for it. With how I mounted it, I'm afraid I'm kind of limited on how to add a filter. I also have one fan circulating air within the cab over the cfl.

4 bagseed under the cfl on the mom side giving it a test. After some early problems I think they're finally doing quite well.


P.S. This was started to be a stealth cab but has been quickly losing stealth status due to some stupid design problems I made Now it is semi stealth, means that it is fine as long as no one looks behind it or opens the door. I can put locks on to it but not sure how to explain that.

How old are they?

2.5 weeks of 12/12 forget how long they were in veg, wasn't very long. I had severe issues and killed off like 6 plants. I think I over ferted too early. They ended up with no root structure.

I had started with general organics in coco. It has seemed to big a big problem for me so I went to kiss method for now. As bad as they are now, its an amazing turn around. I expected to have to toss them.

I know its not enough light to flower, I just want to see sex and put back to veg

cool cab man, im digging the ingenuity. and yeah fan speed for me greatly reduces when i throw my filter over it. so be prepared for flowering heatwise, you might need to add another fan

Thanks chronic. Lots of it was from Anti and Tilt on another side. From Scrubninja's guide of looks like stacking fans with a spacer increases pressure.

Thanks HC. No one particular, just the casual eye. I'm a bit paranoid and always afraid of someone snooping around.

I think I didn't plant them deep enough from seed, as they kept falling over. I had to repot them deeper in the cup. I'm thinking of trying to pop the last of my bagseed and see how they do with the new nutrients starting under 12/12. Unfortunately what is left is the worst looking of the seeds I had.

I had a nearly full gallon jug of general organics mixed up that included biomarine. It was left sitting there for last week+ and I just figured I'd use it off on the houseplants. Horrible idea. Now I'm wondering how long it is going to be before the fish smell subsides

Here and sub'd Void....I can always appreciate a grower with DIY skills...You want to pull through your Carbon filter not push through.....There is a DIY for carbon filters on this site somewhere, I seen it before. I can see a nice RDWC in that cab.....LOL

Thanks. It originally was intended to be a headboard for my bed. Be able to store books up there, undercounter light for reading and a small fan to make it all look legit and stealth. My bed is rather light and easy to move and they are the only two pieces of furniture in my room. I try not to own stuff and by my standards I fail miserably. Well after adding visible doors to the front to fix some light leaks it kind of ruined the illusion a bit. At this point it is a lets just not make this out right obvious what it is. I very rarely have visitors to worry about anyway.

I definitely plan on putting a carbon filter on it. I've got to get the carbon. Walmart here only sells carbon in aquarium filters and not containers of activated carbon alone. That and a grocery store is all we've got around here so it's on the list of things when I go to the big city. My issue is that on the inside the fans are right up against the 1x2 and therefore I can't slip anything completely over the fan casing to hold it up. I've got an idea or two, just need supplies.

Looks like I'd have to do rdwc even though I'd like it to be a undercurrent. Will probably make a book case to stand next to this cab and the bottom enclosed to hold the reservoir and drill holes through both cabs. This would keep the reservoir out of the light to keep from algae growth hopefully, and keep less heat on the tank itself. The problem with that will be having no way to disconnect the tank from the system once installed without pulling the lines out. I'm thinking of hot glue to seal the pipes to the containers as once they're in the cab they won't be coming out unless I ditch the entire system. Any thoughts on that?

Hoping to find my air pump and see if I can scrounge up a water pump from somewhere. Hoping I won't need a chiller but afraid with my climate I'll end up needing one

My birthday is in a couple of days so I'll see what kind of funds I'll come up with. Talk to a ex coworker that's trying to get us money owed. Crossing my fingers here.

My experiment with building a light baffle over last two days failed miserably. Was trying to frankenstein from scrap wood. Will just have to go get some plywood.

So here are my two thoughts on my vertical light setup running 8 lamps

The red cylinders are pots. The purple cylinders are the lights. The yellow one's are 6 in from the bulb. If I remember from anti's pl-l thread, 6 inches out is the falloff. I could be wrong on that and need to go look.

Plants would start at the far outsides as a young clone and move their way to the center to increase light density as they got further into flower.

Choice 2 might be better for light but more difficult if i have to take plants in and out to feed. If I can fit a rdwc I wouldn't need to take the pots out to feed. The only problem would be dealing with algae in such a system.

Edit: thinking choice 1 is actually better in all ways. Second opinions wanted

I don't see how to run under current with this setup. I think a deep water culture should be fine if I connect each pot to each other in the same row then the connect all 4 rows at the left to dump back into the reservoir. I have no experience with this so again, seeking advice.

Can you just oxygenate the air in the reservoir or do you still need stones in each bucket on this?

Messed up my arm pretty good last night.

Will try to use the pc tomorrow to post plant pic. Was afraid I wouldn't be able to take care of them but not as bad as I expected, should be able to water tomorrow.

Running as a rdwc or uc looks to be more difficult bc of the shallow water level.

Well the plants seem to be looking good! Hopefully ur arm looks equally healthy!

It looks sort of like a blueberry cola from bruising.

That sativa in the back right is taking off, indica back left looks like maybe slow growth. The other two seem stagnant. Still can't tell sex of these things, believe it's been 3 weeks on 12/12

What did you do to your arm???

Got news last night I lost another friend. My arms were torn up from breaking up a dog fight. Been a bad two months.

I bent over the sativa last night. This morning had grown into the light. Getting too tall for the cfls. Even with fan on it it burned some but not too bad

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. My condolences go out to you and his family. Dog fights can be vicious man! My pitbull/german shep got attacked by my friends chao.. we broke it up as fast as we could, luckily none of us got bit although my pup had his dogs head in her mouth. sorry for the thread jack, happy growing bro. keep your head up!

Blue heeler attacked a pit bull. Stuck my arms in their jaws to get them unlocked from each other. Doing a lot better but not fully recovered. Burnt that sativa some more
