Venting two cabs with one fan

Hey guys,

planing to upgrade my cabinets to full on wall buildins in my home. I will have two 6 feet wide x 3 feet deep x 5 feet high cabs stacked on each other, Flower on the bottom Veg on the top. Can I use one fan 6inch or 8inch if I seal both cabs and vent them through each other? For example: intake would be in the bottom cab bloom, and exhaust would be up top in the veg chamber?

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

Depends on what kind of lights you're going to be using. If they're going to be HIDs, then you might run into problems of the bottom cab adding heat to the upper. If you build this, I would suggest adding an insulation layer between the two.

it will work with the cabs stacked, with the top drawing out of the bottom, but you'll have to seal the top cab pretty tight to get it to draw air from where you want it to. you don't want to vent it into the flower chamber, you want to vent it out of the room entirely.
i would just have passive intakes on the bottom, and some holes in the ceiling/floor between them. then just run your filter and exhaust to the flower chamber. it will suck air in through the veg chamber, pull it into your filter, then exhaust it out of the room.

What might help keep the airflow even, is to make two vents (left and right sides) going from the bottom to the top

Thank you for the great advice! Yeah I’m thinking it may be harder than it’s worth. Plus if one of the plants gets sick it could spread fast since all the vents aren’t connected.

My plan was to draw air thru the flower chamber, into the upper chamber which is veg out thru the fan and carbon scrubber to the outside of the house.

the air in your flower chamber is probably going to be considerably warmer than the air in your veg chamber. it would be better to do it the other way around if at all possible

Agreed, but I thought the Veg chamber can handle the extra heat. I don't have an AC so if the air is already warm when it get to the flower chamber my fear is in the dead of summer it will be too much

i honestly am not sure about that. i guess try it, if you have any problems with the heat effecting young plants, you can always switch it then.
