My last grow used all CFLs from start to finish- 4 plants yielded me 6.5 ounces. I used about 550w of mixed CFLs.
Now I have obtained a brand new 400w HPS from a friend and have started my 3rd grow. I've decided to use the HPS to veg my seedlings that sprouted a week ago today. I've also decided to keep around four 6500k CFLs to add spectrum variety.
I didn't actually put them under the HPS until Monday night, so that puts my seedlings at one week old, with 5 days or so under the HPS. Compared to my last two grows, vegging with CFLs, these sprouts are growing -significantly- faster. One week to the day and they are pushing out their third node. At this rate, I will be topping them Uncle Ben style in about one more week, which is way ahead of schedule.
Has anyone done side by side tests or comparisons and noticed a similar benefit to vegging with HPS?
