Vegging outside pest control questions

Currently I have 17 plants in my 5x6 room they are only a month old. They still need to be sexed before i put nine of them in their final 3 gallon pots. What i'm thinking is when i switch over to 12/12 in about a week if i have any females left over i want to stick them in 5gal pots outside and let them veg out there in the sun for the eight weeks the others are in the room flowering. To put it short i want to use the outside for my veg room while i can.I grew outside last year and the bud worms were bad I did not prepare with neem oil and I got a bad infestation. Other than the bud worms i didn't have any other pest issues for the entire grow last year, but the worms were horrible and the stuff I sprayed burned off all my pistils. I want to avoid this situation this year. My question is what is the best way to control pests, and bud worms specifically? I am thinking neem oil. I will be flowering them inside pretty much immediately after the plants in the room are chopped. Will i run into any issues when I transition them from the sun to the 1000 watt hortilux HPS bulb? I live in the southeast should i be wary about any other pests besides the worms? I only have one grow under my belt so i'm wary. Thanks for any insight guys.

Spray some Bactria all over your plants and when the caterpillars eat it they get sick and die. Common Bactria to spray is bacillus thuringiensis. I haven't tried any other Bacillus strains but they all seem to work. A common product that contain B.T. is Safer brand Caterpillar killer.
