Hi I wanna learn to clone ... My Q is how long does a plant need to be in veg for before it's good to be taking cuttings from her ? .

as soon as it can stand losing a branch. if that makes sense. i wait until pre-sex around 8 weeks, from seed.

If your growing in dirt cloneing is a waste of time. Normal pot plants have a lifespan of 4-5 mo's, even if you take your clones before she starts to flower that clone will still only live 4-5 mo's. You have to grow them fast, meaning hydro. I got a freak female growing right now that I could have taken a ton of clones from, but im in dirt and the clones would not have produced as much as a new seed.
People who successfully clone a clone etc. have a freak of nature. All kinds of them with all the screwin their doing with the genetics.

as scroglodyte said, as soon as she can lose a branch and still go strong. keeping a mother in soil is not a big deal, there are still many strains that are still clone only and their mothers have been in soil for a long time. have seen folks keep theirs in 55gal trashcans or larger due to having the mother for so long, and still produced very good bud from the clones. true genetics do change slightly as you take a clone of a clone of a clone. i believe there was a page here somewhere that explained the science behind it. and screwing with genetics is what has givin us all these wonderful strains we have now.
