so the best idea I have is top it several times and train it then put it out late spring and hope for a monster bush. Going by the advise, I will wait later to start it
You could try to FIM the tops to get more growing tips. It's hit and miss but if it works you'll have 4 instead of two growing tips on each plant. Faster than topping twice. Here's a diagram to show how it works. You'll want fine tipped, sharp scissors tho I pinch them off with my nails and it works most times.

Good luck!

ya, that's what I do, I guess I was not calling it the correct term.....learning. I have a pair of critical mass clones that I have fimmed and trained pretty good, did a skunk haze also and they all have a dozen or more tops now

OP, you may run into early flower problems if you put your plants out in March. The Spring Equinox is March 20, so the day and night will be equal then. The days will be getting longer, but it will still be too short for a while after that. Here is the Weatherunderground link for Atlanta. https://www.wunderground.com/us/ga/atlanta
Put in your zipcode and it will pull up your town. Scroll down to the Astronomy section and look up your length of day. The rule of thumb is 13 1/2 hours is safe, but the flower/veg trigger point is strain dependent. With this much time, you may come out ahead to make a few clones, and put out several plants. Or you could do a couple of clones of each, and go ahead and put the mothers out for a spring crop. I'm down here in the Florida Panhandle, and I have a few out now. But I'll have to get them finished before you put yours outside.

Kiddie pools make a cheap big pot. Mine hold 40 gallons of soil.

Good luck.
