V-Drips Hydroponic Setup

I was first looking into purchasing the V-Drip12 Hydroponics System (See 2nd pic below) but I looked further into how its built. Looks like there really isnt any space for the roots to flow, seems as if they would just sit in the pot and/or partially in the gutter looking holders. Also at the end of the "gutter holder" its open? If light gets in there that means alge on roots!?!? And lastly there isnt a lid for the 10gallon resevour. Anyone running this setup please give me some input also anyone else please give me your opinions on this system.
Otherwise ill be going with V-Dripstheir basic 6 plant drip tote system (see 1st pic below)

build a custom dwc setup like in the 2nd pic for cheap man do a bubble system im building one next week for my parents so they can grow veggies so they dont have to buy from store and are all organic

all u need is a tub

net pots

air pump

air stones lights and nutes etc...

I have a 12 site v-drip. It grew my plants very well for veg but its not big enough for a full grow. I just stuck 4inch rockwool cubes into the holders. its alright but I dont think its worth the 100 price tag. If If you want it still Ill sell you mine for half just p.m me

Well exactly how well did it do during flowering. What stain did u use and how were your yields. tell me about your setup.

Well I did not use it durring flower I switched to a ebb and flow system because the plants need the extra room. Its great for veg though. I Had it under a 400 watt light and Im in the 2nd week of flowering now check my sig for the link of the journal. I also used the whole line of DM nutrients

anyone else used v-drip?

I was trying to find reviews on it 2 before I got it and couldnt find a single 1.
I forgot to tell you that the pump they give you is not powerfull enough for the system. You will have to get a new 1
