UV with cobs

Not a UV led, but I have a single bulb T5 fixture mounted down the center that's separately wired. I have it set to come on for 15 minutes four times a day runing an agromax UV-B bulb. So far it has worked great, and I know others have done something similar to this as well with great results.

Same here, rocking a separate T5 ArgoMax Pure UV bulb. Set on a cycle timer 5 min on/55 min off plugged into same strip as other lights so only comes on during light period.

If you look at the picture, you can see how the T5 is going down the middle of the COBs. 12 COBs total. That's 6 COB's per frame (6x Cree 3590s 3500K on a MeanWell HLG-240H-C1050b). ArgoMax 4' T5 Pure UV down the middle and the little spotlight hanging off the side is a 730nm Far Red Spotlight I hacked for the Emerson Effect experiment.IMG_8585.JPGIMG_8604.JPG

Careful if you are playing with fire with uv. It can work great but it can burn too. Be sure to turn them off EVERY time you enter the room. And by burn I mean the plants and it is bad for you

The strip lights are off, theyre just glowing under the blacklight. There are 10 each 365nm, 380nm, 395nm. They're grouped together in threes. 3w chips being powered at 600mA. They are most likely epistar/led brand. Output is, like, 420mW @365nm, 600+mW @380nm & 395nm. For sake of dialing in different environments, i sourced 5050 size UVa to distribute another 20 LEDs across this panel. This way i can boost the UVa to extremes late flower. Anyway, those are still in the mail. The new 20 adding are 8x 365nm, 4x 380nm, 4x 395nm, and 4x 420nm. The strips are lm561, which has a drop in spectrum right at 425-435nm

Damn! I should look for uv-a so, I red somewhere uvb wavelenghts are needed to increase terpenes

So I've switched to using these. Everyone is correct about how dangerous these lights are. I'm sure the UV will also degrade plastic components inside the tent faster. Makes you wonder about what gasses might be given off when some of these plastic parts degrade, like the lamination holding the mylar to the nylon. Anyway...

I got myself some smart outlets. Gives better control - allows for scheduling by set time or cycle within time range. Also allows for remote control, so you can turn off the light from your phone. Next, I'm going to add a red bulb/lighted sign outside the tent connected to the same outlet as the UV, so I have an external warning to when the UV is on - just in case I forget to turn it off via app.

Please keep in mind that these things have a current limit. When shopping make sure to note the amount of Amps it can handle, then take that with a grain of salt. Don't overload the outlet. Likewise, quit using power strip plugged into powerstrip, plugged into timers. I got to the point where I had things plugged into other things and other things. So I got the smart outlets and one of these. Now I have one power strip. Granted, I'm gonna have to measure the draw at the wall, but I have a few more changes to make first.
