UV to control algae ?

i was looking at airpumps online on some aquarium websites and i red about UV sterlisers.

is there a reason i dont read about people using these ? they seem cheap and could possibly cut down frequency of res changes not to mention reduced algae

Ya can use a bio-filter these are a breeding ground for benifital bacteria, and cleen ya nutes + remove toxins
