are there any LED diodes or fixtures on the market yet, that effectively emit usable amounts of UV?
The Amare light with the small single fluorescent UV tube int the middle is a joke ! Only windowI've seen respected LED grow light manufacturers add fluorescent UV bulbs to their fixtures for UV if that gives you any indication....
Check out the Arcadia reptile UVA/B bulb. D3 + 12% UV.If u suppliment w t5 be careful. Hortilux power veg is part uv, agromax's pure UV brand is pure UV, unlike guy at the store told me, he said they were basically same bulb just different names... fried my face and my girls.... PureUV is not just a branding name its pure uv, they can be used but not full time like hortilux ones can be, so in t5 u kinda have choice of short powerful bursts vs a bit all the time. Just a fyi if you venture out of led for uv..

dressing to sell more already over priced units !
I have wondered at times why the guys running DWC etc don't run simple pond UV lights in their piping, heck you get large aquarium filters with pumps and UV lights build in that moves serious water.
As for LEDs, yes you get VERY expensive UV LEDS, but there are others on the market. I have built a small UV LED panel I use to etch circuit boards.
I've had excellent results with the Agromax Pure UV bulb. I put mine in a single t5 fixture mounted down the middle of my cob fixture. It is extremely powerful though so you need to be aware of not working in the grow room when it is on, and it's a good idea to keep it a fair distance from the plants. I haven't looked much into true UV LEDs, but it would probably be easier and more cost effective to just throw a UV t5 in your tent.
The concept is sound though... I've seen many people running cobs put a single UV t5 down the middle.
Oh I’m sure they can be used well, mine were just too close and or on too long which with the hortilux I had before was fine. Yea they sunburnt me BAD. All on one side of my face which was cute. But they put a crispin to my county fair girl. She finished off pretty good quality wise but never grew more bulk after that day and it was only about 5 weeks in. Damn shame too cuz she was a beast- begged a year- topped a million times, LSTed flat to fill my whole 6x6 room and she was cranking till I fried her. Lots of hash bud and that that wasn’t was a B to trim!
Not the bulbs fault but the user...
You guys need to be more careful with the UV and turn it off when in the room and wear good eye protection. Not only can it cause skin cancer but also cataracts.
