Using Pond water with hydroponics ppm questions

hey guys

I have a 12 site ebb and grow system

My homes water is hard, 1800 ppm hard

I have a beautiful pond in my back yard that’s treated every year and super clean

Pond is full of life, turtles, fish, frogs , etc

I’m running a pump from the pond to my gardens res and backup barrels, I’ve used this water for Cannabis for years in my outdoor grow in smart pots etc

My question is now that I’m doing hydro using this pond water I’ve got to account for my nutrient solution ppm,

My nutrients suggested ppm level is about 300 ppm in veg tops,

Designed to work in a ebb and flow system they say. Fingers crossed but check out the fine print on the bottom left 55A8A4E4-E0AC-403C-9669-C4A86393CBA7.jpegA42CD57F-7859-496D-8AB0-E5AD00E3F8AF.png I’m trying to find out exactly what sort of ppms I should run with this stuff using pond water,
I know cch2o says use ro water,

I’m just trying to get some opinions on this sort of situation

All I can say is hydro is done with 0ppm Reverse Osmosis water and introducing all those foreign microbes, bacteria, and possibly fungi that might be hiding in that pond water doesn't sound like the best idea.

Well while I respectfully welcome and accept your reply airwalk, I have to disagree and only because the system has worked well thus far pretty well and let me at that this is not the only hydro system I’m using with the pond water, also doing a small 20 site aero grow with the pond water and I’m running pretty damn clean, I’m not saying your wrong at all, you could be 100% right but first thing I do is treat that pond water with h2o2, anything that survives that hasn’t hurt my system, hasn’t clogged sprayers or lines at all. And also it worked great outdoor last year take a look at my out door grow that I only gave pond water and some cal mag 8172C47C-F4F1-4AD5-A43F-20C91C815A0D.jpeg8172C47C-F4F1-4AD5-A43F-20C91C815A0D.jpeg DC2929FF-03C2-4B6E-B62B-A58077791A36.jpeg

Look into aquaponic forums and info on that stuff, it would likely be of more use than most of us here.
What youre trying to do has likely been done successfully by people before without sterilizing the water. Aquaponic generally typically uses a fish tank to supply most of the fertilizer but I dont see why pulling out of a pond would be much different.

I would at least get a good sediment filter and get the heavy crap out of it if you are sterilizing it with h202.
What ppm of the pond water?

All airwalker is trying to say is you have no idea whats in the water and itll be harder to keep it dialed in and under control.

I am a horticulturist in Australia who as irrigated commercial crops with 1800 ppm water, at which stage it was not viable due to lost production and large properties of permanent plantings were left to die. There are a lot of factors, like soil drainage and rainfall that need to be considered for commercial plantings with high salinity water..

Aquaponics with fish and organic nutrient will allow plants to draw easier on saline water.
This would need to be done with a good degree of knowledge and effort for Hydro.
I don’t think there is an easy answer, except give the chemical nutrient a go.
