Using Fish Tank water??

Hello,

I have a couple of plants that are growing outdoor and i've been using my fish tank water for the waterings. So far so good as the plants look healthy. In my fish tank, I have live plants (not marijuana plants) and so i use fertilizer, is that type of fertilizer ok for the ganja? It contains nitrogen, phosphate, potash, Potasse. Also, I add this other concoction called Cycle, which is bacteria that is rich in nitrifers and is used to control ammonia and nitrite in the aquarium. I'm assuming this water is ok for my herb, but i'm not sure. Also, when i first planted the fine-cannabis, I added lil' pellets of fertilizer to the soil. Am I over-fertilizing the plants with pellet and the water-plant fertilizer?

Thanks ya'll!

the more you put in the more your risk is to have some nutrient burn. i would say the fish water is ok to use once inawhile, but use regular tap water 90% of the time so you dont over nute your ganja

Dude, go ahead and use it, as long as it is notsalt water. If the fish can live in it your plants can drink it. It is not going to have a significant amount of npk, however it might be loaded with micro nutes from the fish poo.
for a good second opinion, post this same question in the organic section and ask ohsogreen to help. hes the man who would know if there are good/bad bacteria in that water. hes the organic guru.

yeah man i use my fish water sometimes, if there was to much nutes in it you would know cause your fish would b dead.

Aquarium water is the best! It's already conditioned and has a great temperature! I have I live plant tank and water all my terrestrial plants with H2O from my fish tank, I wouldn't worry about too many nutes, nearly impossible, I think the plants benefit from naturally conditioned water, I was able to revive countless numbers of orchids doomed for death thanks to simple fish tank water!

Freshwater aquarium water is excellent for all sorts of plants. It has some nitrate, though this is a planted tank you're talking about I have a feeling you may have to dose. The fertilizers and nutrients should not at all be deleterious, as the above poster mentioned, as long as it's not a salt (or brackish) tank we're talking about.

One caveat, soft or hardwater tropicals? If you're growing those that like that high pH, alkaline (well buffered) water, then the ganja may not appreciate that so much, as she likes her water a bit lower on the scale. You could soak or filter through peat moss to achieve a lower pH, but that does take time.

yea, aquarium water should be fine, i know a few guys who actually put dead fish in the hole before planting their plants, once the roots hit the fish after they have decomposed you pretty much can watch the plants grow daily, go for it
