underdeveloped

i am using a blueberry strain & i have noticed when it flowers it doesnt like growing laterals of any considerable length ,it always ends up just growing up the stem .these flowers are huge & covered with crystal but the underside(facing the stem) looks kinda shitty & pale compared to the side getting the light is this normal?

blueberry has to be topped several times to inleash its feiry.

At what point would you do that, stil in veg?
