Umbrella or rectangular reflector? ANY OPINIONS

im about to buy a 400w hps system from HTGsupply, does anyone have any experience with these hoods, the Mini Sun Soaker or the Quad Ray? im trying to decide which would best suit my needs. im gonna be growing in a 4'deep x 6' wide x 8" high closet and plan on having about 9 plants at the beginning in a 3x3 to 4x4 square, but that will likely drop to 6 or less depending on how many males i get.... any advice? the mini sun soaker is an umbrella style hood where as the quad ray is a rectangular shaped hood but has multiple facets inside

SHOULD I GET THE UMBRELLA SHAPED SUN SOAKER? or THE RECTANGULAR SHAPED QUAD RAY?

Reflection and PAR - some of my favorite topics. Essentially you will want to maximize your usable light and focus the intensity in the largest space (known as the "sweet spot") as possible. Things to consider include she shape, size, and reflective material used. In order to really get the right answer you will want to see the PAR makeup that shows the area of effect and the light intensity tests in those areas to compare. Absent that data, you really cant make an informed decision.

That being said, typically the more rectangular methods cast a more intense light across a larger area as compared to umbrellas shaped reflectors, which due to their parabolic design, will provide more pointed and direct lighting directly below the light, but not so effective outside the umbrella range.

there is a guy at another site that compared a bunch of reflectors with a light meter. It think its pretty established that parabolics are not as good as the rectangular. So if its between those two probably rectangular but i know nothing of the quad ray. i think the sun systemII was the winner overall but they keep adding different reflectors to challenge it. Look it up its good.
