um im puting a heater in my flowering room

ye s i have got a little heater for my flowering room becouse it was geting 56 degrees in there but i was wondering if the red glow of the heater mess with my plants while the lights off?
 
Yes, it is a light source so it will have some effect. How much I can't be certain. I wonder if there's a way you could block the light from the heater or at least filter it without risking a fire. I used one before but it was very small and had a black grill on the front so I believe it had little effect on flowering.
 
The best thing I can suggest for you is to go ahead and face it away from your babies, go ahead and set a fan to blow the warm air around the room (warm air rises) or if you happen to be lucky enough to have an overhead fan just put that baby into reverse and blow the warm air downwards onto your babies. Just an idea, hope it helps
 
get an oil filled radiator the light will mess with your girls as its constant

Has anyone ever heard of the moon? You won't know until you try it, but seriously do you think it's brighter than that? I highly doubt it. Heaters aren't on constantly either, but that's no worry, we have these things that float around that are called clouds too...
 
One of the most radical and ignorant? Uh, no.. I do have attitude right now like a bitch though, sorry. That varies day to day and minute to minute with me, I'm one of the real chronic pain sufferers.

If you think I'm ignorant though, well, I guess there is just no real way to prove otherwise. I am fully aware a heater can put out light (IR) and a large enough heater... But, it aint rocket science on how to make it work. Life is not so simple as black and white, just because you read that some have trouble with a heater doesn't mean all will. All circumstances are never the same and just as often it's a complete non issue.
 
I seriously doubt the red glow is enough to start up photosynthesis. Unless is one of those really bright glowing Dish Heaters I wouldnt be worried.

And as suggested above, Oil heaters are fucking great. They use less power, and when used properly are way more effective at maintaining a steady temp.

I really hate the idea of those little space heaters.... such a fire hazard. I like those oil filled radiators TUSSEL put up a link to. They seem like they'd be much safer.
 
well i have a oil filled heater but it eletric and i cant hold any more power on my breacker box. so i got a little propan house safe heater buddy im just gonna turn the heater away and put a fan up on the wall to blow the heat down thanks for some ideas
 
One of the other things that you could look into is a Holmes Quartz Heater. These can be set to heat a room to a certain temp and then turn off automatically if that is something that might be of interest to you as well. And as far as your breaker box being full, maybe you could splice into a sub box for your grow.

Thats a fucking insane price for a 1500w heater. I got a heater for $25 CDN, it runs 900 or 1500w.....And it turns off at a set temp.

Man what a waste of cash for a little heat. And why run a subpanel fora heater.....why not add another breaker in the existing panel.

A couple Independent breakers for the grow room is fucking amazing. If you ever blow a breaker half the room doesnt go out, you can separate your gear into sections on separate breakers and never have to worry about overloading anything.

The reason for the heater to be on a set heat is so that you don't fry your babies. i mean who wants to over dry their crop before the cure time for the bud? I know for one that I wouldn't want to wake up and be like oh sh*t my crop died because it was too hot. Not that I'm saying it's not fixable, it's just others may enjoy the knowledge that the room will always stay at a set temp.

And as far as the electrical box goes I was just suggesting that there is always the option of running a separate box for the grow room itself. Because the last thing anyone needs is someone flipping off the breaker that runs a water pump, if the whole room is on another box there is no worry about it. Plus if a box is full you can't add another breaker to that box. I know that I would rather have a box with a new amount of breakers for the different op areas in my grow rooms.

That is all that I was getting at.
 
I understand what you were saying, but that $400 heater is still a waste of money. The $25 heater I got cant fry my babies, you set it to 78* and whenever it gets that low it turns on.

Im not saying your wrong, or that they are bad ideas, just a lot of work and money and overkill for this situation.

WTFFFFFF it's 56 deg! it's not gonna kill them... Mine are that temp every night with no problems.

But if I were to use a heater I would use an oil filled heater, much more efficient and wont dry your plants out. The forced air heaters will really dry up your plants. I say leave them alone and they will be very good to you.:joint:
