MANILA, Philippines–A British cannabis seed trader detained at the Bureau of Immigration jail in Taguig City said Tuesday he would fight his deportation to the United Kingdom, saying that once he gets home, he would have to mount another legal battle against extradition to the United States, where he is wanted for drug trafficking and money laundering.
“I love this country. I want to stay here. The love of my life is here. I can’t sit here [under detention] for years. What are my children going to eat?” immigration detainee Gypsy Nirvana told the Inquirer in a phone interview.
Nirvana said he was worried how his Filipino wife, Leah, will raise their five children with him remaining in detention.
“If I’m deported, I might not be able to take them with me. Worse, I would have to face an expensive, protracted legal battle once I get back home because the US government will surely seek my extradition,” he added.
The charges against Nirvana stemmed from his cannabis seed trading activities through mail and online transactions. He was arrested by immigration agents in Olongapo City in August last year after the US court issued the warrant.
Nirvana, however, questioned the proceedings of the bureau, which ordered his deportation the following month. He said his business was legal in the UK, where cannabis seeds are not considered drugs.
The Court of Appeals, in a decision issued last month, authorized the Bureau of Immigration to deport Nirvana to the UK provided the plane would not pass through US jurisdiction.

About Me

Gypsy Nirvana
Hello.... Yes it's me Gypsy Nirvana currently residing at Camp Bagong Diwa, Bureau of Immigration Detention , Bicutan , Taguig , Manila, Philippines . On 28th August 2013 agents of the Bureau of Immigration came to my house in Subic and brought me here on a ' Mission Order' to face a preliminary hearing the next day where I was told that there was a warrant out for my arrest in Maine USA for charges associated with the sale and distribution of narcotics ( cannabis seeds) , conspiracy to produce narcotics ( cannabis seeds ) and money laundering ( funds made from cannabis seed sales)...... Currently I have been detained for over 6 weeks and am awaiting the outcome of my appeal in the Court of Appeals here to contest the legality of the Summary Deportation Order that I received in early September . If I am deported then I will have to go back to the UK where the USA will try and extradite me to the USA to face these charges. My business of trading in cannabis seeds in the UK is a LEGAL business because cannabis seed does not contain any narcotic substance at all. But the USA says that cannabis seed is a narcotic, hence my dilemma . I have been a resident in the Philippines since 2007 and have 4 children, ages 5, 3, 2 and 1 years old to support and care for . The last thing I want to do is to be deported from this country and then extradited to the USA to have to face these ridiculous charges!
