Z zRegular Member Apr 17, 2010 #1 I bought a Philips 75w "plant light" because I couldn't afford CFL's. Are these bad? I'll have some cash in a few days, but my seeds are germinated and need to be planted. Will it be ok to put this light on the plants for a few days?

Yeah they are bad, replace with any CFL asap. And don't get it too close, those things put off a lot of infrared and can fry your seedlings.

I have no specifics, those are never used, but if you can feel any warmth from the light on your hand at the plant, then it's too close. On and light on seedlings isn't a problem, you can do 24/0 from germ.
