Ok so I have 4 plants that are about 16days young. And they are growing beautifuly. But I keep finding a light amount of mold on the top soil of the pots they are in. The last time I found mold people on here told me to replant them asap. And I did so with brand new soil. Thinking that would solve the problem I felt content.

Well that didnt solve the problem. Today after work I looked at my plants and yet again found a light amount of mold on the top soil. I will tell you exactly how i care for my plants, and I hope you can give me some advice and tips to stop the mold and maybe care better for these plants.

They are grown indoors under lights. I mist them every 2 days. And water them when the top layer of soil is dry. They are in merical grow seeding soil. I water them with tap water that I have let sit for 6 hours or more to evap the bad chemicals. Oh, and I also have a small fan on the plants.
Thats about it. But I keep finding mold, and I know replanting them every week will kill them. If you have any advice please tell me.

Sorry for no pictures, but my camra is not working.

whats air circulation like? is it just that fan? where at a closet or grow tent or sumthin? is it clean? if theres mold nearby the spores can be getting to ur plant from the moisture pretty easily.

thats what im thinking too. its prolly hot and no circulation, and pot doesnt grow there, mold does :(

circulation is KEY for you

Its in my closet. I have the fan, and my ac. Thats it for air circulation. Would it help to open a window or something?

is it muggy? air sticky?

i had problems with some of the soil that comes with the white foamy pebbles in it -- they would turn into what looked like mushrooms...and would get all spiderweb-y on the soil around it...so im all organic now :)

what are the temps? if you dont know then maybe the ac isnt enough. like an hps in a closet with just ac and a fan would be ALOT of heat. a window might help if the closet door is left open ofcourse. if ur using cfl's then the ac should be enough to keep temps down but even then in a small closet it might not be enough fresh air. either way you need to replant again. all fresh soil ofcourse and make sure its clean in the closet and in the pot. make sure you dont have no leaking pipes or sumthin makin the closet moldy to. mold spreads easily. like when you take ur plants out to replant spray some lysol in there because it kills mold...along with baking soda and bleach. dont get the lysol on ur lights though it'll blow them and let it air out before you put the plants back in. if there was mold in there before you might not have even cleaned it all out from the last time. i wouldnt clean ur pot with any of that stuff though....even if you wash it off real well its just not sumthin you would want the plants to get to. even keep the lysol in the corners of the closet. the molds gotta be growin in there somehow.

Might try keeping the top layer of soil fluffed to keep it light and airy. I keep a plastic fork handy in my growbox for just that.
