So I am going to be building a ucrdwc I'll be using 27gal containers 3in pvc for the containers however I'm not sure what the best size for a return line will be 1in or is larger better?
I will be using a alita 120 air pump as I will be using matala 9in diffuser disc or maybe the 12in disc I'm not sure yet..however the line out on the pump is for 3/4 hose now I want to do pvc lines for the air and I'm not sure if 1/2 or 3/4 pvc will be best to use as far as back pressure and will be easiest for the pump...thankyou for your time and help much appreciated.

i would go 1.5" for your return line
also, since you havent started building yet, look into waterfalls in lieu of air stones. i wish i had done this. stones work just fine, but waterfalls do the same job with less machinery. if youre set on stones, go with the 1/2" line

I second this.

Yes use a submersible pump for your res to 3/4" manifold that reaches to each site and reduce to a 1/2" line and elbow you stick through a grommet from the inside of the container near the top of the wall to spray down into your water. You're returns become the 3" pipe so use it all the way back to the reservoir so the pump feeding the waterfalls has no shortage of water coming back so it doesn't drain that res.

Thanks for the tips everyone I do appreciate it..i have considered the waterfall however i will only be having 2 grow pots plus the controller bucket between them but a lil back..both grow containers will be 3ft from ea other so I'm not too sure if the waterfall would be the way to go although i do agree on it doing well also I will be doing matala diffusion disc so not actually doing airstones as I would have to do 1/2 or 3/4 bulkheads if I do the disc vs uniseals for the waterfall method..
However I'm not sure on if I should do 1 bulkhead for the control bucket like how c.c does theirs or if a bulkhead per bucket would be a better way to go for flow wise. However I'm sure c.c has done lots of r&d and the single inlet would be best I'm not sure...
Heres a rough sketch from 1 intake or 2...
Also has anyone used male to female adapters with a gasket instead of bulkheads...I'm just not sure if they have enough lip on them to fully seal like for the diffuser disc I also will have a drain pump separate to easily drain the system...
Also on this build I'm going with tees instead of elbows and will do unions and ball valves when needed like before and after the pump as efficiency and making it as easy as possible to clean etc..
My veg setup is x4 8gal cc rdwc so I will be doing 2 plants per bucket with scrogs for my bloom room thanks...I have air stones already that I had for the previous setup that are still clean and new almost and I have x2 matala 9in disc already so I would just need to buy 1 more I thought about either 1x 12in per plant bucket and the 9in for controller however I wonder if x2 9in per plant bucket would be too much and the 1 9in would be plenty and the x2 9in I think would be a bit much and x1 would be more than enough
