Turning off my air filter

What would happen if I turned off my air pump that is connected to my air stone for eight hours a day. Would my plants drown?

I doubt they'd drown, but you wouldn't see accelerated growth. The true answer to your question is: You should never shut off your air pump. The water pump yes, I actually took mine out once the roots hit the water... BUT AIR PUMP IS A NO-NO.
