Trying to turn 250w into a cooltube

So i got one of these and it getting really hot in my cabinet if i dont leave my doors open and a fan. So i wanted to make a cool tube to cool it down. What wires could I use to extend the socket out of the ballast box?

if you just take off the ballast and put the ballast outside of the box your temps will go down??you only have to extend the wires at the lamp..

I rather have a ballast in the box and have the socket extended( I dont want the ballast to burn anything or start a fire.... here's a diagram maybe it'll help
