Trying to do it right. First time grower/ total noob needs help!!

Hello to everyone from a fist time poster!

Let me say first this website is the shit. some great info going around and some really helpful, friendly people.

Here it goes: Im a first time grower looking to set up a system in my bedroom closet (my own house). Dimensions are 4ft wide, 2.5 feet deep, about 9 feet tall. If anyone has ever watched the videos on youtube of that dude who painted himself green then you basically know what type of watering/nutes system i will construct. Heres a few major concerns:

Keep in mind that ill be vegging and flowering in the same space with the same equipment. I will use feminized seeds and attempt to flower between 4 and 6 plants.

1.) Will a 600w HPS light be harmful during vegging. Overkill i know, but harmful in anyway if spaced and cooled properly but used throughout the entire process?

2.) I have to pick only one of the hydro systems the green guy built for vegging and flowering. Do you recommend the ebb and flow or the drip feed for the entire process and why? ( i like the drip feed)

3.) Im confused on the different mediums. Rockwool as a seedling and then into orchid rocks in my grow tray for the rest of its life. Is that ok since its a hydro system?

4.) Wrong section but since you all have my info. Indica looks like the best for me based on time, resiliance, and height limits. Im gonna pick two different kinds but I get so damn excited when i look at all the types i lose any objecitvity and want them all. Between Big Buddha Cheese/ Blue cheese, Super Lemon Haze, Great White Shark, any type of Blueberry what, based on my situation would you go with? Is Greenhouse the most ligit seed company?

Alot I know but many thanks to anyone and everyone for input. Ive got more questions but ill start here and keep searching around the forum. Im fukin psyched!!! Thanks again

Welcme to RIU! Glad you decided to join us. Ill try and give you some help. The 600w is overkill but the more light the better so I would go for it and its safe as long as its UL approved! It will say so on the ballast. I use a 600w and get results close to the same as a 1000w because you can put the plants closer to the light. I prefer the drip system over flood and drain becasue I think its easier to control and cleaner. I tried both and now use drip. You can start with rockwool or redi-rooters. Even soil if you have to then wash all the dirt away and put them in hydro.I dont like to but I have done it that way with no issues. The only time you will have a problem is if you let them get to big before the switch. I have a GroClone and go from their to a DWC setup I made so the roots grow some more then to the waterfarms. You have a lot of height in your closet so I would go with something taller then the indicas to take advantage of the height. PurePowerPlant grows tall if you dont top it and my BlueberryXCindy99 grow tall with no topping. Both are good strains. Blue99 is one of the best I have and the PPP is a big yielder with quality smoke! Blue Cheese grows taller then Cheese, both are good picks. I have GWS in veg so I cant tell you much about it yet. Be careful wiyh any Haze strain SuperSilverHaze grows huge in hydro. Last round I got 6 oscars from 1 lovely lady! The only other thing I should tell you as a noob is over ferting causes deficecys. Dont feed you girls till 3 weeks old and use a very mild solution. Around 300-400ppm is good then wait till 5 weeks and use 400-500ppm them 600-800 through veg. I go 700-900 through flower then 1000ppm late flower. Your plants will let you know if they want more or less. And change your water no less then every 2 weeks. Once a week is recomended. Bubba Kushman! Thanks bro. Thats one of the most helpful replies ive ever gotten on any board for anything. Ill deff watch out with the nutes. My only concern with taller plants is the longer flowering time associated with Sativas. Ive got 13 weeks to get this first grow done before my girl moves in.

ANother question: Cooling and airflow: Im gonna cut a hole in my door and attach a squirrel cage fan and run the tubing from the fan out a window next to the door. i will also attach a small ocilating fan inside on the wall of my closet thats sounds ok no? Thanks again kushman and everybody else

That sounds good! You need the air flow. Just make sure you have no light leaks. The PPP take 8-9 wks max. I have one flowering. Its 4ft tall and 2ft wide because I didnt top it. Last time it was about 3 x 4 because of the topping and was taking over my space. Something like SuperSkunk will grow tall and finish fast. Check out cannabis-seed -bank.nl.uk The Attitude.
