John Kelly was annoyed he couldn't get a "full breakfast" in Brussels on Wednesday.

At least that was the explanation from White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders when asked about the apparently agitated body language displayed by President Donald Trump's chief of staff during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Sanders told The Washington Post that Kelly "was displeased because he was expecting a full breakfast and there were only pastries and cheese."

A number of news outlets, including the Post, speculated that Kelly's body language was related to the remarks Trump was making at the time about Germany being "totally controlled by Russia."

Trump made the comment while voicing frustrations about how much Germany pays into NATO and the amount of Russian natural gas the country relies on. Trump also said Germany, one of America's closest allies, was "captive to Russia."

If I was Nato I would impose a fine for crying wolf.

A published e mail to the countries involved indicating he wants to change the agreed upon goals would have been better for Coal Miners, he just cost the country a couple dozen lung transplants.

What I don’t get is where the fuck did he come up with the “you owe us money” thing? What the hell does a countries defence spending have to do with owing anybody anything? Yes Canada has a crap defence budget as we all know but how does that correlate into owing money? We have met all NATO funding obligations per say but yes we lag behind in “our” defence budget. It’s like watching a bad late night talk show host every time I listen to him :(. Please let me know what I’m missing about the “owe” thing because I’m befuddled lol.

I agree with other countries upping NATO contributions so we can decrease ours, with goal of all paying the same rate. We got our own debt issues that must be dealt with.

All of the countries are paying their fair share to NATO. It’s not the NATO contribution that is the issue, it is each countries own defence budget. If the States is willing to pay above the agreed upon amount good for them. Your contribution to NATO has nothing to do with this. You need to get the facts and stop listening to one of the dumbest governments in the world and the biggest generator of fake/false news.
