A military veteran supporting Donald Trump gifted the Republican nominee his Purple Heart Tuesday, prompting Trump to say he "always wanted to get the Purple Heart" and this was "much easier" than serving in combat.

Purple Hearts are awarded to service members who suffer wounds in combat.
"Something very nice just happened to me. A man came up to me and handed me his Purple Heart," Trump told supporters at a campaign event here. "I said to him, 'Is that like the real one or is that a copy?' And he said, 'That's my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you.'"
Trump received the veteran, identified by his campaign as retired Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman, on stage at the start of the rally to receive the decoration. The campaign didn't specify which branch Dorfman served in.

"I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier," Trump said. Trump then pocketed the decoration after the veteran left the stage.

He deserved it. Those bone spurs must have hurt - if he can remember which foot they were on.

"U.S. House candidate Sean Barney, a Marine veteran who was severely injured after a sniper shot him through the neck in Iraq, issued a statement calling Trump's comments "flippant and repugnant."

"As someone who fought for our country in Iraq, was injured, and was awarded a Purple Heart, I can tell you, no one should ever 'want' to get a Purple Heart," said Barney, a Democrat from Delaware."

None of that matters to the hardcore. This open bigotry and racism feel too good to turn back now. The klan feels liberated. They're finally allowed to hate in public again.

Yeah, that open bigotry displayed by BLM is really offensive. Better tell them to kick that shit to the curb!!

Whatever percentage of the population that voted for him will be excoriated the next day on every single TV show when he loses. Fox news will immediately disown and disavow him and the RNC will purge the idiots who sided with him. It's going to be weird and embarrassing.

My idiot father in law who we just brought home from the hospital wants to vote for him. He was bitching about his Medicaid being cut, until we made him realize it was the Republicans in this state that cut it. Not a fucking peep about Trump since.

  • North Carolina: In 2013, the state's General Assembly passed a bill banningMedicaid expansion, but in October Gov. Pat McCrory (R) in October 2014said that he would consider expanding Medicaid to an estimated 500,000state residents. Specifically, he said, "I'm also trying to figure out what to do with Medicaid and whether to expand that or not, because the feds are offering all this money, and yet I’ve got to be concerned with the bureaucracy that could be grown because of that."
He rejected matching funds.

I don't have anything to say on this. He makes an ass out of himself just fine.

I dunno. I think you might be giving them too much credit. I think they might go full retard and claim election fraud. They can always rely on the "stab in the back" lie.

For example, if the Senate miraculously stays Republican, I could see them blocking a SCOTUS nominee indefinitely. Open defiance is all they have left.

To be honest, I think the Republican Party is getting your the point where purging all the TRUMPies would result in a very small rump party that leadership is not willing to deal with.

What Trump needs is to get slapped by Capt Pimp. (anyone know a veteran with the last name Pimp who attained the rank of Captain?)

I think if they claim fraud and keep appealing to the lunatic fringe the Republicans are history. They need to pull a party switcheroo and become slightly more conservative Democrats and then attack them on non social issues. This Trump shit will stay in people's memories for a long time. Maybe Bloomberg as a Republican in 8 years. He could win especially if the Democrats put up another Bernie like candidate.
