no, you need light, co2, o2, heat, nutrients...
but if you mean just the soil you put it in the whole way through with no nutrients? this is possible but the nutrients are just in the soil to begin with. subcool has a "super soil" he uses at the bottom of his buckets. you can find out how to make it on this forum.
