trimming roots?

I was just wondering if trimming roots effects the plants. I'm considering starting a grow in 4 inch pvc tubes(that i've already bought and can't take back because I've already cut them) and I don't know how much root space I will have, but If I don't have enough will trimming the roots effect anything?

Well, I haven't tryed it, but was reading a thread, where a grower trimed his roots in early Veg, to incurage them to grow. Kinda Like Topping, or as you might say, Bottoming. :)

But agian, that was to incurage more roots, not to keep them small.

That is how you make bonsai trees stay small i think i believe there is a thread on here where someone tries with a mmj plant. Not sure havnt read it, so i think it would stunt growth, either way roots shouldnt be a problem there just going to lay in the pvc and run the distance of it

They might start to cloge the pipe.
yeah exactly....! someone told me that trimming the roots would not effect growth so I wondered what other people would say. If anyone out there has done this please feel free to let me know the results. Thanks to everyone out there for their input! I'm just in the research phase of this so I really want to be prepared for anything that might come my way.

I think it would effect growth.

The top of the plant and the bottom of the plant grow in unison. If you start to cut the bottom of the plant then the top has to slow it's growth.

Effectivly you would be using a safiscated hydroponic system to speed growth, but then do something to slow it back down again. If you see my piont?
