Trimming Question

I am about to start flowering my indica but its really bushy (no training) so there is a lot of shade in towards stem... can I trim any or will it hurt the plant

yeah you can trim now. just dont trim past three weeks flowering

Do I trim flush at the main stalk or just the leaf. I've never messed with plants usually just let them grow but this fruity pebbles has leaves bigger than my hand with no space between each blade about 16in tall at week 4 veg... pretty massive bitch... I'm on using cfl bulbs so I'm already low on light

trim off some big leaves that would cover good bud sites and trim off any lower growth that doesn't get light.
