Trimming Fan leaves in Veg?

Is it bad for your plant if you cut too many fan leaves during vegetative growth?

im not a pro or anything but the way your plant soaks in the light/nurtients from the sun is foliage (leaves), the more leaves the better unless some spots are dieing or looking unhealthy because its too bushy and not getting sun in certain spots then you might wanna trim it alittle if thats happening

Well i was just wondering because i just had to resoil my entire plant for its survival because the dirt i was using was this nasty outdoor soil. So i got this amazing soil now and got it some root promoting nutes and now shes lookin sad and the fan leaves are remaining to turn yellow up the plant. I cut all the dying fan leaves off and now she looks bare.

From what Ive read on growing plants in general is that if its young & green, you dont cut it. If a part of the plant is green then that means it is properly turning sunlight into energy, if it is turning yellow & brown it is not.

Cutting of a green fan leaf can cause a lot of stress to the plant, almost to the point that whatever reason you cut it off for wont end up being worth it sometimes. Now when a plant gets older this is a different story, but the purpose of the veg stage is to grow foliage. The only cutting I recommend in veg is topping and thats it.

Just because you dont see light shining on your lower branches doesnt mean that theyre not getting any. Not all light is visible, and depending on what kind of lights you use and how close they are, the light will penetrate through foliage enough to grow out those lower branches without cutting.

I personally have never cut off any fan leaves since I really harmed a couple of my girls doing so in my most recent grow. I just bend & force the big ones out of the way so the bud sites get optimum light. If you dont have bud sites yet then let those big leaves soak up as much light as they can so the rest of the plant grows and you have a nice big healthy plant to flower.

never really a good idea to trim in veg.

It will perk up with your new soil, give a good water with a ''little nuits'' plants always droop leaves when just after a good feed & when light are out, a little tip for you is to- when roots start to show at the bottom of your pot have a spare bucket and have your feed and nuits in the spare bucket, sit your plant in it for about 5 mins, then remove, the plant will have taken what she needs, repeat the same with the rest, topping up the bucket each time it starts to get empty, you only need about 3 or 4 inches of water & nuit mix in your spare bucket but the plant will always just take what they need, ie a good drink, when the pot is nice and dry and feels light to lift just repeat ok, thats a much better way than to stand and flood it and not know what you have gave it, you can up the standing in the bucket time as she gets bigger to around 7/8 mins, best of luck to you fella.
