Trimming Buds and THC dust

Have a question about trimming buds. I've seen videos where all the leaves are trimmed off the bud creating a well manicured nugget. However during the flowering cycle and up until the time when one harvests their plants each of the buds is completely coated in a white crystalline dust, which I'm assuming is mostly THC and Cannabinoids.

When it's time to trim buds, all the leaves that are sprouting out from the bud itself are usually trimmed off so one ends up with a manicured bud.. If these same leaves are coated in THC and other substances that gets one stoned why wouldn't you leave them alone and smoke the entire bud, dusted leaves and all? Is it a matter of trying to eliminate a harsh taste or is there another reason?

Thanks for any advice!

Trim them to;
Give them a better appeal, dry better, remove some harshness.
The trim then gets processed by most people into tinctures, hashes, oils, butters. Etc etc.
My local caregiver left some leaf on his LA confidential cause he couldnt bring himself to chopping it all off.
