Trichomes and damage.

I have always made bubble hash. I had been wanting to do dry ice hash this coming year. But I now believe that dry ice will be in short supply because they need it to keep the Phizer vaccine cold. In fact, news accounts indicate that the one big producer of dry ice in America may not be able to meet demand .
I think I will go to a dry sift. But I have seen things on the web which indicate that you don't want to damage your trichomes. One of the places was Ryan rosin on Instagram. When you dry sift it seems that damage would be unavoidable. When I do this should I rub the buds between my gloved hands letting the material fall onto the screen. I mean, don't I want to break up the buds to get the trichs that are on the inside of the bud?

"This is why the best kief is considered to fall within 70µm and 120µm. Furthermore, mixing the powders from different screens can heighten the organoleptic properties of the final product, diversify its terpene profile and trigger an entourage effect."

Excess heat will melt the young trichomes all over the plant material, thwarting dry sieving, but breaking up the material by hand for dry sieving shouldn't damage the trichomes.
