Trees :/

So I found a new outdoor spot (other had serious problems) and I was wondering How do I kill large trees to where they will still stand up but wont make any leaves? Id rather not cut them down because they are 12+ inches across and id like to use it for a little cover.

Im clearing 2 acres of my land and I want this spot 1.5 acres away from that to look untouched.

i myself would leave them alive, drawn an imaginary circle inside the trees and cut everything inside the circle, tapre upwards like a cone to give goood light levels

I tried climbing them and doing that but a hurricane (hugo it think) about twenty years ago made it some 200 miles inland and all the big trees got LST'd as in they all bent over from wind and started growing like 8 new tops along the curve and I cant reach them. and cutting them down is much more trouble than its worth (when I get the chainsaw out people come to see whats up and I notice they like to hang out around my freshly cleared areas. (not this year though plenty of briars and such around this spot and the clear is an 18' across pentagon shape)

But keeping these trees from making leaves would make the spot get 4 or more extra hours of direct sunlight a day.

ive heard that stripping all the bark off the lower trunk of the tree will kill it.
easier said than done though

It does but it kills the roots fist them the top of the tree. takes years lol. And its real easy to do just take a hachet and debark afew inches of the trunk its like a 3 min per tree job
