Good Morning All;

When I was in CC yesterday I was talking with another gardener friend of mine. They just moved to Gardnerville on 5-acres from a Residential home in Reno. His problem was he wanted to grow outside next year, but had no protection from the winds and such...and we ALL know living out here we deal with the winds 10 months a year :o... Makes for strong plants true, but they still need a little protection otherwise the pots will get knocked down. I grow in ground and pots and had to pick up a few of my pots this summer.

So, I set him up with the Arbor foundation. I know I put the web address link up on another thread while commenting on a post, but after talking with him yesterday, I thought I would 'share' more properly :D

The link is: http://www.arborday.org/

I just received my new 'The Tree Book', which is pretty cool. My norm was to donate to them, then have them donate my trees/bushes to a park. I forgot to do that this year, so I will be getting LOTs of them here soon (10) :razz: I ordered two 'Kousa Dogwoods' for my front and they are sending me a free Red Maple Tree for ordering, nice huh :P. Guess what my Dogwoods cost ea? $6.98 8) super cool! In all I will be receiving 13 trees and bushes inside of 25 days. My total I spent is: $20 donate and $13.96 for the two dogwoods.

They actually have a good selection to choose from in their book. Choose from Flowering, shade, Ornamental, Fruit, Nuts and Berries, Fast Growing, Hedges, Shrubs, or flowering Hedges & Shrubs and of course Evergreens.

Want a 'White Fir', cost $ 2.49, small true, but it will grow ;)

Inside the booklet they also explain how to plant your trees, and with pics :lol: Tell trees for wildlife, how to prune your trees, planning a home orchard, how to prune fruit trees, how to save energy with trees, tree care basics, they tell/show you how to plant them for 'just right now' and move them in Spring/Fall.

I thought this was worth mentioning. Being on SSD I don't have a lot of monies and EVERY penny is stretched til it's invisible LOL I thought others may be in the same boat.

So, if you would like to plant your 'babies' outside and would like some protection for them, this seems to be the easiest and painless way to go. Enjoy :leaf:
