Plan for traffic & jerks, prepare for high gas prices & a fair shake of some hot gals n guys. lol- depending on where you're from it might be some strange sights in LA or interesting or amusing...lol here is A LOT to see, do, experience & eat in LA. What type of trip are you looking to have? laid back n chill, full to the brim with physical activities, mentally stimulating museum heavy, sight-seeing, thrill-park visiting, sports parks, etc? Bring warm to hot (70-90 degrees) weather clothes & maybe lightweight pants & a light jacket just in case we are getting the June-Gloom (50-75 degrees, overcast, sprinkles occasionally & cooler AM w/warmer PM) & cooler evening temps, esp if you go to the beach or mountains. Have fun! Oh & do not depend on public transportation in LA, it blows...although the MetroLink isn't too bad overall. The problem with LA is it's spread out, not concentrated, but we have a bunch of highways (free!!! do not get on the toll roads tho, not free or cheap). Do get a map & not rely too heavily on GPS, while driving the freeways try to listen to the traffic reports, it can save you a headache.

Definitely a chill time! I'm flying from Richmond, VA and it's going to be my first time taking a plane. I plan on going to venice. Beach and such... Also, trying to find some glass shops out there. I really want to try roscos chicken & waffles, in & out burger, fat burger, jack in the box etc. Not having a vehicle is going to suck, though, lol.

Just prepare for crap traffic, rude/bad drivers on the road & there is no need to be extra friendly to people.. Avoid trying to showoff or flaunt (jewelery, money) if attending any large functions.
Visit as many places as you can! it's not as bad as it used to be 10+ years ago. Eat in china town, try the hot mustard >

Without your own vehicle, and keeping in mind Skye's *excellent* advice to not rely on public transportation ... I hope you have a friend/relative in the area who'll drive you. Taxis in the LA area are pricy. cn

Hollywood is crackhead wonderland after 10-11 on friday through sunday morning.
santa monica and glendale are nice suburbs with good sights to see. I had a motel in the sherman oaks area for a fair price.

rent a car, seriously, unless your buddy will be chauferring you or lending you their ride. Just a little cheapie car is all you need to get around well. public transportation is weak in LA & taxi's are kinda pricey. o'yeah you'll love Roscoe's (tasty tasty!), In n Out (OMG YUM!) & fat burger, but Jack in the box is just kinda ok overall IMO....but their sourdough jack is tasty. Also try Bakers Burgers-not too bad, kinda similar to In N Out's. There'll be a lot to see & do at Venice beach...crazy fun place, that is! If you like mexican food, have your bud rep a place, great mexican food abounds in so cal. I can't rec any glass shops out there, but Venice is a very artisan enclave area (& peculiar street performers) so I'm sure you'll find some kick ass stuff there. didja check out the things to do link too? What about the Universal walk? I think that's what it's called... I went there once or twice it's pretty cool especially for your first time out. If you can Hermosa Beach is really nice Hit Sharkeez for a cool bar scene at night. You might enjoy 6 Flags if you head up north just a little. Awesome roller coasters!!! then there's Disneyland of course, Universal Studios that's a pretty cool scene. You should look into hitting up a talk show or a shooting for a sitcom, tickets are usually free (you know live studio audience). Just some stuff I like to do when I go down south. I'll actually be at Disneyland on the 4th and 5th . my kids school choir was invited to perform at Disneyland. Anyway have fun stay high
