? Transplanting Question ?

Had a quick question,

I got some clones the other day about a foot tall and came in jiffy pots that were put in small pots about 2x2. I wanted to use them in rockwool for a hydroponic application so I very gently soaked the clones, took them out and cleaned off the roots to the best of my ability leaving the jiffy pots and a small amount of dirt on the netting. I didnt lose any root mass or tear the roots off or anything I was very careful and meticulous.

I transplanted into 4x4 rockwool cubes that were soaked in a 5.5 ph balanced half strength nutrient mixture by gently placing the root bundle in the cubby hole and putting the jiffy pot portion on top and wrapping the netting around the stems.

I went in today and they were slightly droopy of course a lil transplant shock but my question is am I going to have any significant problems? I have transplanted this way from aeroponic cloners into rockwool this way but never from soil to rockwool and have been unable to find any info. Has anyone done it like this before? Like i said they look like they are in good condition but I just want to take any precautionary measures.

I am thinking about dissolving some rooting gel in a ph balanced mixture of water and 35 percent h202 to stimulate growth...anyone else have comments or ideas? T

Thanks,

FLoJo

forgot to ask how long they will be experiencing shock and how long till they root down in the rockwool

Should be ok in a few days, watch the main stem at the base to make sure it does not get soggy or rott and keep an eye out for pests that could be introduced into your nutrient reservoir.

everything seems to look ok there are a few aphids from when i received the clones but I will be dunking them after they recover in some safer and neem solution...i sqeezed out some of the rockwool so they wouldnt be over saturated then this morning after I had them rooted and let them sit over night I added a shot of the ph balanced water with h202 and dissolved cloning gel to help them get kickstarted.

They barely droop at all but The leaves have been curling up a tad bit at the edges however I think it it just deficiencies from the soil they were in and once they stabilize i will feed them again, and then throw em in the flowering room

I looked at the edges of the jiffy pots and the lil roots at the top seem to be gripping into the rockwool so i think they are going to be ok... I have done transplants into soil with rockwool cubes, from aero systems into cubes, from aero systems into clay pellets, and into soil but have never, or heard of anyone ever transplanting from soil into rockwool so i just thought it was going to be too much stress for them to handle because the process seemed quite brutal despite the care i took.

sorry for the longwinded response lol but anyways has anyone ever transplanted from soil to rockwool?

Yes i have gone from soil to rockwool a few times. Nothing real special to do just mabe water by hand for a bit just keeping failrly moist. Some tips may brown or droop while the plant is settling into its new medium and growing fresh roots.

na they havent dropped any leaves and they almost look like they are healthy but i am just wondering if they are only lookin good because they are still drawing some nutes from the jiffy pots or whatever because i know they havent been able to root yet... and there are a few lil mites but i am waiting till they root so i can dip em in soap/neem solution before I flower them but i want to clone the tops of them right before I throw them in the flowering room but i dont want to shock them even more by cloning them until they bounce back and are firmly rooted

Cool thats what i was figuring.. after putting that rooting hormone on there a couple days ago they have perked up a lot and i can see some of the small roots near the surface starting to grab into the sides so i think they are gonna be fine. thanks for tha help chem!
