Transplanting Question

I know my ladies are ready to move out of these 1.7 gal pots. I've read elsewhere that it's a good idea to transplant them when they are still damp from the last watering, not too dry, to help keep the roots together. It has also been suggested that I get the soil in the new 5 gal pots wet before transplanting, then watering thoroughly once the transplant is done. Won't this lead to overwatering? I don't want to stress them anymore then I have to.

How do you guys handle things at transplant time?

Yep. Get the new soil wet first. Then premake the new hole, I add Mykos to the hole and root ball. And yes it's better if it's not totally dried out when transplanting. I usually water the day before I transplant.

Oh, and then water the newly up potted plants to help get the roots and everything to settle in.

Thanks, that's what I needed to hear. I watered them on Sunday, so transplanting tonight sounds good. I was worried that watering them again today would lead to problems, but I guess transplanting too dry would be worse.

Can you overdo it on the bennies? I don't have any mykos, but I have been using Recharge. I also have a bottle of Piranha and Tarantula by Advanced Nutrients. The Tarantula is past the exp date by a few months, but the Piranha is still good. I'm definitely going to dust the ball and the hole with Recharge. Will also using Piranha be too much, be beneficial, or just be wasting money? Going forward I'll skip paying for fancy water, but I already have it.

I don't know about those microbes. I've never used them. I only add a shitload of Mykos, and a little Azos sometimes. I actually haven't thought about the Azos the last couple times. But it's good stuff too. I really should just use it every time since I have it. Just kinda forget or was too lazy.

same i water a bit the new soil so that my hole stays. i wait a day or so after watering and transfer. dont really use anything no issues so far. this batch actually bounced back real quick no issues. i use mother earth coco peat and it drains well. wait a day or so lift the post and see how it feels

I just finished transplanting them. It was a pain in the ass getting the dirt in the 5 gal fabric pot while the plastic 1.7 gal pot was inside. Not much room to scoop dirt in between the sides. I got the new pots nice and wet, then moved the plants over, then put a gal of water through each pot. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

I’ve never transplanted wet/moist soil. I wait until I know the next feeding is coming and transplant the day I would water. Nothing worse than trying to move wet soil. But hey, if it worked, no harm no foul.
