Is your plant showing any signs of stress from the transplant? Also you can top typically after the third node you dont need to wait for 6-7 that’ll just make your plant much taller. If theres no droop in your plant and you just fed it you’d be okay to top.

For sure. Yea i read... anytime after the 4th node you could. Still learning tho. Was gonna transplant but someone told me to do repot before you go into flower. Just happens to have 6 or 7. That part wasn’t planned out. Don’t see any signs yet. Hasn’t been even 24 hrs but im assuming I would have seen signs already. They looked ok this morning.

it's a good idea to top first, then transplant when the plant is over the topping and starting to put out new growth. it's not a have to thing, it just usually takes longer to get over transplanting than it does to get over topping, so if you transplant first, you may have to wait till the plant has put out enough new growth so you can be sure it's completely recovered from the transplant, which is wasted time and growth that you're just going to pinch off

Good point,

Personally I go from Pete pellet to final pot there is no middle ground and I avoid all the transplanting stress.

there are advantages to it though, if you do it well, the plants explode when you repot them. the stress usually comes from people doing it poorly. you want to skip a watering, let the rootball dry out slightly so it doesn't fall apart when you pull it out of the pot. i use coco, so i get it moist before i put the plant into it, and give the plants roots a day to start reaching out before i water it in.
it's a rare plant that has any stress to get over when i repot, but it does happen from time to time.
topping, on the other hand, seems to be a very individual thing, you can run a dozen of the same plant, even from clones, and one or two of the dozen will hate getting topped...

as stated what i figured out from my own experience is that plants usually take longer to recover via transplanting but when i top they are pretty quick to start pushing out new growth. before i would top and transplant on the same days so it took my plants longer to recover in general almost an entire week to say it has decent growth coming in.
