Transplanted RW to soil, when to water?

Hello all just a question for you....I just put 3 RW cubes in solo cups with a soil mixture...my question is I just watered the cubes this morning so when should I water the solo cups, usually been watering the rw cubes about every 12 hrs since I put them in there It might be the A/C sucking the moisture out, not sure but been using a scale to make sure I don't overwater them...any input would be appreciated greatly as I am fairly new to growing and want to do it right!

I guess since no one can help I will wait until tonight to water as I feel if I water now they might be overwatered and been there done that....not again I saw a video on Youtube and they watered till it came out the bottom, is that correct cuz it seems like alot to me? I plan on giving them a quarter dose of 10-15-10 when I do...Schultz all purpose and ph the water as well

When you first xplant RW into soil you need to saturate the soil. I mean really saturate it.

If the soil is drier than the RW, it will suck the moisture out of the RW to the detriment of the clone/seedling.

You only need to do this at time of xplant. As the soil and RW dry out together they will reach a balance and from then on, regular waterings will suffice. Make sure the soil mix is packed firmly around the RW making good contact.

Ya I gave them a pretty good watering was dripping slightly from the bottom and I packed them in there good, I think so that I buried the stem to just below the first leaves.....I was thinking that as well that the soil would draw out the moisture from the rw cubes...I built my own grow box and lined it with emergency blanket cuz I can't get mylar too easliy....got 1 26w daylight and 2 15w soft white cfls on them and they look real cozy like...lol Thanks for your reply it helped ease my fears alot:razz:

place soil cube plant in cup
feel weight
SATURATE soil in cup
feel weight
when weight = 1/3 of saturation, water plant

I was using a small scale when they were in the rockwool.....now my scale can't weigh the solo cups, too heavy! So I need to get a scale that weighs in pounds...but I agree I figure I will water them again in about 24hrs....ty for your reply!

No need for a scale, muscle memory will suffice.

You will NOT need to water in 24 hrs. That size plant in those cups more like 4 or 5 days if not longer between waterings.

You're about to make the most common of noob mistakes, watering too often/overwatering. The second is over feeding. Don't even think about nutes for 3 weeks or so.

Not too worry I will not be overwatering this time around lost the first batch cuz of that....but I hace A/C going and they seem to need water about every 2 days....abd a small amt when I do...I prefer to do it that way as I am home (not working) so I can keep a sharp eye on them....lol Will post new pics soon TY for the advice!

Small amounts or 'sips' isn't the best way to go. You end up with air pockets and dry spots and it screws up root development.

Totally saturate all the medium, let it get almost dry then repeat.
