transplant woes

I have a 4 week old plant that I am growing under 400w hps and it finally grew out if it's 1gal bucket so i transplanted it to a 5 gal and it's not looking too good. the bottom leaves were wilting so i cut them, the top of the plant is looking decent but not as good as it was before transplant. does anyone have any advice for me? how long does it take after a transplant before the plant is returned to normalcy? I know it is shocking to the plant but I am getting worried. It has only been abuot 24 hours. Advice from someone who has experience the same would be greatly appreciated!

when you transplant you must water well first, then transplant gently, then water again thourghly. this reduces stress to the plant so it recovers quickly just make sure you watered well after transplant and get back to normal, it should recover in the next day or two.

mine took a few days to show improvement, they had been eaten from the roots by fungus gnat larvae though so I repotted them upto the second node and they have started shooting off new roots, I'm hoping they will grow fairly close to the lower branches and then I can take a ready rooted clone off the bottom.
