Transplant before flower to avoid messin with a bunch of nutes

(I've read) A lot of soils come with good enough nutrients for the first 3-2 weeks (correct me if I'm wrong). If I were to keep a small bush in like a 1 gallon container to flower for about 3-4 weeks such a soil, could I then replant into a 2 gallon container with higher amounts of nutrients necessary for flowering? I figured I could maybe beef up that soil in a good way so I wouldn't have to mess with nutrients too much since my choices would only take about 5-6 weeks. Is this doable? Or what additions would I make towards the end?
