git sum superthrive it lowers pH or some pH down and a meter or maybe pH buffered nutrients or hard water nutrients.

if your runing 7-7.5 add two capfulls of lemon juice to your water. Testing is the best way to tell. Even at 7.5 they should grow ok 6-6.5 is best in soil.

i just topped some plants last week, and although i'm not an expert i'll share with you everything i took in when i made my choice.

you wait for your plant to grow 4 "true nodes" this means you don't count the little round leaves or the first set of spear head leaves. count the actual pairs of three or five pointed leaves. you will cut off the top two sets of leaves. take a clean razor, sterile is best, and slice the main stem cleanly on a 45 degree angle. if you cut straight across it makes a bad place for a pool of gross stuff. it turned black and nasty on one of my plants.

when you do thiis the hormones that the plant was pushing up to the tip top are now pooled, and the plant develops two main stems from that point on.

why you top seems to be a debated matter. my understanding is it doesn't actually increase yield. you will get two main colas and those colas may or may not be as big as the plant would have yielded. but it gives you a plant that is easier to work with, you can train it to take the best advantage of your lighting, increase air flow, and limit the upward growth.

i have a small cabinet and my last batch grew into the cfls and i'm hoping topping will make this less of a problem this time aroudn.

someone smarter will have to fill in the blanks.
good luck and i hope i've helped.
