They all work. Topping and LST give more predictable results, and are really similar techniques in principal. Both get the top out of the way so lower nodes can take over. one cuts, one bends.

I would also say that LSTing is better suited to small places from what I have seen. Of course you can top and LST, I forgot which thread I saw that in.
