Too pick or not to pick?

Hey guys just curious what yous think about harvestin now.is she ready.i have others that hve just started tipping.one that is not growing will upload pics of a those later for now what about this girl?

Not even close enough to get the loupe out and look at trichomes yet imo.

How does one tell? All her leaves are falling off etc? Some trichs browning.

You are along ways out those plants are still producing. Cut it down and you will be disappointed in the yield and product. If you can visibly see the buds getting larger day by day let them go.

Please take the time while your plants are finishing to go snag a good loupe or microscope and read about trichomes and the importance of using them to determine ripeness. Its not about pistilate hairs or bud swell, it's about trichomes.

So what you saying as I wait till the hairs.micro trich are mostly amber before ripe?

I like to wait until after the swell before
I start roughing up my buds and damaging the imature trichs looking at them.
So thats where using swelling as an
indication comes into play for me.

Don't mean they are ripe but it means
I should start scoping when swelling is done.

I also think scoping the trichs on the
buds rather than the sugar leaf is preferred as the sugar leaf gets trimmed off.

What do you think snaps?

One should view the trichomes on sugar leaf, calyx and down in the bud too. I've had strains that were all clear / cloudy until you bend the bud and peek down into the bud and its all amber. Looking need not do too much damage and some theories say that this mild stress actually increases resin production. Jury is out on that but not on the truth we are growing trichomes not buds. Buds are pretty useless without trichomes. Harvesting without consideration of trichome status is not a sucessful strategy.

Ok.think i get you! Il scope buddies asap. Thing is only got a 30 or 20 lense. Hopefully that will work.clipped a few immaturish ones could macro them. Not sure if they woumd help.

Your lens is fine.
Macro is fun.
I just remember learning to use my scope
and it was not as simple as it sounds.

Light plays tricks on you
Trichs absorb surrounding colors.
I know it sounds dumb but its true.
However like anything else it just takes
time.

You can use a good smartphone camera. Get really close and then you open image and zoom. You need lots of images due to short focal plane but it's easier than straining the eye. One can even put a loupe in front of the camera optic for a boost but focal plane gets tricky to place where you want it. Wind sux lol.

Much better images.

I can see a lot of clearish trichomes and no sign of amber ones. When you start seeing amber trichome heads it's peaking.
