You are right, Roy. We need ideas. Not the fantastic fantasy ones you serve up. Also not the archaic, segregationist ideas from 50 or so years ago that you moon over. So, yeah, we need ideas but not yours.

So, you think respecting individuals rights to self determine is a bad idea?

I'm not a segregationist. How other people decide to peacefully and mutually interact is between them, not up to me or you or anyone else to determine. I'm against arranged marriages, rape and forced associations for the same reasons. Which part of what I said would you care to refute as being harmful?

I never pegged you for the free market type but maybe I need to read more. What makes social services exempt from that, I know many people that think the government is not doing a good job and would prefer to put their money elsewhere, but we still get taxed for it. I would love to be able to pay just for the roads in my area through my preferred (brothers) paving company too!

It's almost like there has to be one system or there will be massive inequality or something (is that a bad thing or a feature? Maybe some people want wide roads and others want bike lanes and sidewalks, while yet others would rather have gravel and more money.)

Edit: just rambling, not trying to make a point in the above, just taking it to it's logical conclusion to point out why private security is not a real option. Willing to discuss because it is seen as effective in gated communities and south america/africa, but I don't think it is a valid answer to police brutality (presumably you will be safe from your security because you hired them or something - they have your interests at heart not the states)

Thanks for your polite approach. We disagree and I'm not sure you understand how a free market, a real one, actually works.

Any kind of "security" or policing that is funded, not by willing customers who freely choose a service as individuals, but instead by captive customers, is already a failure.

How do you first threaten to use force against a person to make sure they pay you, then also declare you are "protecting" them?

If I did that to you, would you accept it ?

Wouldn't you rather be able to hire somebody you choose, rather than somebody that is imposed on you?
