Hi i just germinated my seeds in the toilet roll and zip lock baggy method and they all sprouted :D

I then put them in 1 inch rockwool cubes but wasnt sure how much water to give them :( so i read on the internet some were and in my hastiness did the first thing i read because i was excited :(

I dipped the cubes in a pool of water (out the tap) and then then compressed them with my hand to drain excess water away.... i was wondering will the cold water of killed them and have i over watered them????

thanks for any help guys in advance :D

If you are just getting tap roots, No. They should be fine, Don't touch it now until it sprouts, then water and let the rockwool get almost dry between waterings.

Why didn'tyou just plant them directly in the soil? And what does a toilet paper roll have to dowith germination, I'm just curious.

You should *never* squeeze rockwool... it is designed for a perfect water/air ratio. Squeezing it to wring it out collapses this structure and can't breathe properly.

Here's what you should do:

- soak the rockwool cubes in water that has been pH'd to about 5.5 for at least an hour
- rinse the rockwool off using clean 5.5 pH water
- put sprouts in rockwool, *lightly* use the tip of your finger to brush some of the rockwool to collapse the hole
- put the rockwool cubes on something where it can drain well (ie. not on a flat surface)

Rockwool will dry out quickly, but it is almost impossible to over water, unless it is squeezed, or it is a very high humidity area and the rockwool is sitting in water
