to clip or not to clip.

That is the question. Should I clip the low stems of my plants? Or just let them grow? Any suggestions

The only thing I would cut on those is lower branches or leaves that are in the dirt. You really don't have plants with much thicket so pruning not necessary. You have plenty of open area down there for air circulation.

I prune out some of the interior bottom and some other bottom stuff. Ive gotten powdery mildew before and so i do it for better circulation. You cant always conform to a mould so id ask myself if i were you, how the air circulation is through the plants before you make a choice. Theres no real right answer to your question.

Air quality isnt a concern vents are up and fans going. Just concerned they wont get enough light is all. Yeah moved it back up. Thanks
Well, it all depends on how you want to grow. If you really want to get rid of those lower branches because you suspect that it won't get too much light, then go ahead and chop them off to lollipop.
From my personal experience, lollipopping my ladies hasn't reduced yeild by much, if it hasn't increased my yield.
Getting rid of the bottom branches, will give you less scraggly bud produced by those bottom branches that don't get much light and will give you more bud from the top of your ladies.
Some growers lollipop, some don't. It's all on your personal preference on whether or not to do so.

Spud, what kind of light are you using and how old are the plants?

Looks like you are getting plenty of light down there right now. I would clean up the ones closest to the soil. And I would leave the rest untouched. The plant will tell you if your not getting enough light as she gets bigger. At that point you can just remove the yellowed leaves as they appear.

Just my opinion, and everyone on here has their preferences. I just know that once you cut a good leaf, they don't work well when you try to glue 'em back on. :-P

I am using 2 400w hps bulbs on 12/12 . The plants are on their 5th week of flowering. I really appreciate the comments everyone. Its my first grow. Want it to be a good one!

Since you are using only 400 watters. I would definitely cut off the loose and spindly crap at the bottom. It will just suck energy from the top buds. And those 400 watters have a poor penetration depth.

Never clip a fan unless the shoot growing from the site is well developed. Nothing will happen if you snip the fan prematurely. Nothing meaning that the site will be stunted.

Yeah I'm running the 400w hps too. I have it mounted in a cool tube fixture so it's tucked up tight on the canopy with fans blowing across and from the bottom. I'd recommend a lite clean up of lower leaves that are turning yellow, otherwise leave what on it going into your final weeks. If your nutes and soil are right, the plant is focused on bud production not leaf production. Therefore, leave what's on it in place.

Here are some photos of the setup

Here are some of the plants

I think they speak for themselves regarding leaf retention.

I'd cut a lot of that lower and inner crap out.

More ventilation ( O2 and CO 2 exchange )

More light / energy concentration for cola goodness.

Bigger, denser " Upper buds "

Less chance of PM

And...I hate popcorn

But if your flowering..leave it.
