Tips of First Leaves Turning Brown

Hi there and thanks for stopping by.
First ever grow.
Day #15 from seed. Using LED lights, Roots Organic soil, distilled water, no nutes.
Have 3 Aurora Indicas and 2 Blue Mystics.
Had no issues until yesterday morning when I noticed one of the AI's with brown discoloration on the tips of its 1st leaves. Everything else was ok.
Today I noticed that the 1st leaves, while not any more brown, are looking lighter. Also one of the other AIs did the exact same thing.
All the other leaves of the AIs and BMs look ok.
I am not terribly worried, but I wonder if this is normal, or not.
If it wasn't just the 1st leaves I would be more concerned.
The only thing I plan on doing is maybe adding a little of my 220 ppm RO water to the distilled water, to get a 30-50 ppm solution.
I have been giving all the plants what I think is relatively little water, trying to keep them on the dry side. I did water both #5 and #4 this morning. Small volumes.

Hi Grow,
They look pretty good to me. Sometimes soils designed for adult plants can be a little rich for smaller plants. Could be mild nutrient burn which the plant should grow out of. To avoid this in the future use a milder mix and transplant to the full strength soil once they have a few nodes (3 or 4). Just keep an eye on them to see if it worsens. I doubt that it will.

I have/Have had this problem with roots organic potting soil as well. I start all of my seedlings in it. Starting around week 2 i have noticed "burnt" tips on my plants. they look exactly like yours. To prevent this from happening to newer growth in coming weeks i only give nutes once a week, and only water once a week.

I Feel that the tips burning is a sign the plants have plenty of nutrients, so i back off when i see them burn. Just skip a feeding of nutes and replace with regular PHd water, it has been helping me.

I have had no deficiency or toxicity issues with my plants to date.

Hey guys, thanks. That is what I was looking for. Sounds like it is related to the soil, but not something that is going to make a difference in the long run. As someone else mentioned, don't sweat the small stuff. Thanks again. GYF

Grow,
And always learn from the plants. If you ever see that browning of the leaf tips...now you'll know. And some strains are more sensitive then others. Indicas are more tolerant of nutes...but a sativa seedling may have died. Just keep that in mind for the future.
