Arrival of my Nirvana Papaya is eminent and wanted to see if anyone had any tips or suggestions on this strain. This will be only be my second grow. I grow in a 30x18x36 tent, in soil using CFLs. All I gotta beat is 1.65oz from my first go so any advice on this strain would be greatly appreciated!

don't worry about yield, yield is gonna happen with a good yielding strain like papaya, just don't over water or over nute. it likes a medium/low feed and cut back on food last 2 weeks of flower and you should be fine. bigger the grow medium, longer the veg time- the more yield you will revieve.

Thanks for the reply Omgwtfbbq. Because of height restraints and my fan setup is rather bulky, I switched the lights over at 16 days from sprout and tryed my hand at LSTing. Although not alot of veg time it worked out perfect. My 3 plants did very well. Do you think it would be a good idea to go about vegging and flowering the same way? Or maybe flowering 2 instead of 3 so I can have more room to veg and LST and try to utilize my space better with fewer plants? Thanks again.

what i do when growing nirvana is this

start seeds, seperate any males as soon as they show sex, kill off the earliest sexing males, keep any males that show sex later and have a good representation in case i need to make seeds. i then seperate the females by odor/ resin production. i use a 30-100x scope to inspect stems and leaf for early signs of resin production, the more the better. just toss the females who do not meet your standard of quality and keep those that do. you should be left with(at this point) a few good fems, and the very best girl is the one that smokes the best.

final product> everything else.

Do you top or FIM your plants? I did'nt try this last time but thought about it to help keep the plants bushy. I think i've read to cut after like 3 sets of opposing nodes. If you do, witch do you think would be more appropriate, topping or FIMing? Or don't bother with it?

My first grow a hermie pollinated my crop cause I wasn't paying attention to the fact that this could happen. This time im gonna be selective like you suggest and a lot more vigilant with day to day inspections. I also didn't have one of them scopes to view thricomes with so i'll pick one of those up. I've read they can be found and Radioshack. Thanks again for help.

i wouldn't, the papaya grows short with a nice bush and strong main cola, doesn't get too wide or too tall. don't bother, just more stress for the plant to endure, give her what she needs and nothing more, next time you grow her take some chances and start experimenting. i didn't train mine and they yielded well regardless, if you are growing under cfl's, that 1 ounce is actually impressive, i would move onto better lighting like High Pressure Sodium lighting, much better yield to be had, lighting makes the biggest difference in yield.

I understand, I want a HPS set up for "real" results without the daily light adjustments. My only option I can think of is a cheap, open air "wing" style reflectors from HTG so I can basically cut it all away so I can fit the lamp, fan/filter setup all in the tent. I use a bathroom, exhaust style fan that works great, but bulky. In the future I wanna replace it with one of those white, low cfm centrifugal blowers coupled with a 4x8 phresh filter or Can 9000. Should leave enough room for a 250hps lamp with the ballast outside of the tent. I just don't know if the heat will be to great! I've never used a HPS so I don't know how the heat will compare to my CFL spiderweb. Yes, a small HPS setup is definitely on my list.
