Tips for Cubes?

ok so, me and my brother got a little to excited and picked the biggest 4 mushies we had (only about an inch 1 or 2) either way it was only about 2.5 grams each. Neither of us felt anything, i have never tried them before and my brother not since early high school so i didn't want to take much, but apparently 2.5 grams wet is nothing....

we ate them, waited about 20 mins and then gave up and moved on the bong.

I'm reading 20-25 grams might make a better trip wet, and that 2-2.5 grams is a good dry dose.

I will have loads by this evening i just don't want to over do it trying to compensate for last time and make sure it works this time.

Be patient.

25g wet minimum. I would eat more around 30 or 35g.

hey thanks for the reply. Is there any danger in eating to many, or will they just make you sick?

and also how are the effects changed by using them different ways? Examples: cooking with stir fry, adding to pizza, dipping in chocolate, grinding to powder and taking, ect..... can you heat them up?, how hot?
 
also i hear a lot of people talk about how aborts and little ones are stronger then full grown. This both does and doesn't make since. Why would you not just pick them all when they are small if so?
 
Some people get a little nausea from them but not dangerous in the sense that you can overdose. It will just be a stronger trip. Some people mind not enjoy a very powerful experience so it's really up to you how far you want to do.

I wouldn't recommend cooking them or applying excessive heat. It is completely subjective, but the experience is slightly different for me when I eat them wet as opposed to dry. They say it is about a 10:1 ratio wet to dry, so in order to eat an 1/8th, which is my lowest dose, I would have to eat around 35g of raw mushrooms. That's quite a bit of mass to be chomping down. I would look into making a tea. Heat is said to break down psilocybin, so you don't want to boil them too long. I usually pour boiling water over the mixture and that seems to work well. However, I know people who simmered them for upwards of 10-20 minutes and they said it didn't really diminish the effect. There are many tea recipes out there you can try. Good luck and have fun!

all i have atm is a phone with a pretty poor camera but i have been meaning to get a better one for a while.

I will get some pics up. I only have one fruiting atm, while i finish my BatCave style greenhouse. I just need a pan to catch the humidity drips and i can get teh rest started. The strains i chose Penis Envy, PSE Hawaii, Treasure Coast, Golden Teacher, and KS Super Spore. The Penis Envy grew like crazy so thats why it went in first. And i'm doing some experimenting on casing/not casing and on horse poo/straw bulk subs.

It my first time so don;t judge me too hard when you see my pics.
 
Tyvm Sonar, got some moar pics soon, we picked a bunch last nice, about 70 grams and there are 3 or 4 times that many that will be ready tonight. =) only my brother took them last night, its my turn tonight O.O

They grow sooo fast, it makes me sad thinking about weeds and the 2 months we have to wait on it.


i also think i may have gone a little over board, i ordered a spore syringe once before and tried to do a PF cake with BRF and nothing grew, no shrooms, no mold, no bacteria, nothing, so this time i mixed it up and tried a little of everything hoping something would work. This was just the first flush of the first of 8 cakes.... well i guess i need to look into long term storage options.... vacuum packed gel tabs?

Also if anyone has not tied using popcorn as a spawn i really think they should give it a shot. I tried BRF, WBS, and popcorn this time and the BRF still didn't seem to do anything, maybe its because i have fine verm but idk. The WBS is 1/2 the speed of popcorn and doesn't seem to make near the myc mass.

lol again take that for what its worth coming from a lucky noob. but with out you guys and the guys at shroomery i would have never stood a chance.

I will have a great pic of one for you tonight tho it was about 6-7" this morning and the veil was not even thinning.

And another little concern is that these look nothing like the Penis Envy they are supposed to be, and i am nearly certain that i did not get my labeling mixed up.
 
Once they are completely dry they will stay in a ziplock bag in a cool, dark place for at least a year.

I've used popcorn and wbs as spawn and I think wbs gives slightly better results, popcorn is a little bit easier to prepare. The problem with wbs is getting the water content right. Every tek I've seen says let it drip dry in a strainer for a half hour or so. That simply isn't enough. In my experience it still stays to wet. I lay it out on a cookie sheet and hit it with a fan or if I am in a hurry I take a hair dryer to it on a lower setting.
 
my brother used to only make tea, he'd boil the caps/ stems for around 10-15 minutes.... Only a few people would drink his tea twice bc it was so gnarly-strong
 
Ahhh, that could be it. In mine there did appear to be a little more, unabsorbed, liquid in the WBS than the popcorn, and it was most likely because i did only strain mine b4 canning. Thanks for the tip, I will defiantly give it another chance soon.

The one thing that is being a pain in the a$$ is pasteurizing bulk sub. i made the first 2 with hpoo/straw but then switched to straw only because it was sooo much easier to work with. I am using the biggest foil baking trays i can find and at 2 hours it takes a lot of time and space to prep it.

boil?, or just warm in water?

I am just asking because some people are saying that you should keep there temp below 160.

I've been using coir now for almost a year and do see myself ever going back to manure or straw for that matter unless I try pans again. So much easier to pasteurize and is virtually contam proof.


How do you pasteurize your straw?
 
I get the biggest baking trays i can find, about 24x16x6 and fill them to the top with wheat straw chopped to about 3/4". Then i soak it in water for about 15 mins then weight it down with plates to hold it under the water and cover the top with tin foil and bake at 170 in the over for 1.5 - 2 hours.

I watched a lot of videos and read a lot of guide then did exactly what they said not to and grabbed bits and pieces from each tek and did what i thought sounded best.

Any specific kind of coir needed? or just the bagged stuff from home depot? well actually i can't find ant at home depot.

we also picked the last of the first flush last night, i had 2 that were over 20g each and about 8 inches tall. I had no idea they got that big.
 
I use the brick stuff from the pet store. They keep it with the animal and reptile bedding. I use Damion5050 Coir Tek and except I only use 1 quart of verm where he uses two. Don't think it is really necessary to use all that verm, but if you are running it for the first time you probably want to follow his tek to the letter. I usually pull between 8-9oz from it over the life of the tub.

That sounds like a good method with your straw. I have to check but I'm not sure if my oven goes down that low. Do you spawn right to the baking tray then?
 
No, i have 8 Sterilite containers from walmart that are about 12x7x4.5 (rough guess, i'm at work atm) that mix the straw and spawn in. I have not flushed a pure straw cake yet so i don't know how well they will do (tip from RUI, reported to yield slightly lower then straw/poo). The first 2 cakes i made with 50/50 straw/hpoo, but the hpoo was such a mess and so hard to store (bugs, smell, mold, ect) I am slightly concerned about the lower density of the 100% straw cakes but we will see.

i also spawn in pint jars. i couldn't find a pressure cooker that would hold quarts, i needed it fast and apparently walmart no longer keeps anything in store (5 times in the last month i have looked up items on line that said they have it and then don't even carry it when i get there). anyways i use one pint per cake and normally have 90% colonization in 3 or 4 days. I have been leaving them 1 week+ after being fully colonized to consolidate but idk if it is necessary.

all tho i may try a huge baking tray cake just to see how it works =)

I also set up my greenhouse system last night and put in 2 new cakes but forgot to take pics. The first cake is in dunk atm. How long should I leave it submerged between flushes? and how long after dunking should the second flush begin.

I am going to go get some coir tonight, i have 6 jars of golden teacher and PSE Hawaiian that will be ready soon and a jar of KSSS i spawned from myc leftover in a spawn jar from earlier. I expected fast growth from the myc transfers since i figured we would be cutting out the germ time, but this time at least that was not the case, it took longer to start and is growing slower so IDK.
 
i just read the tek you linked and i like the way that looks. I'm not filling the mono tub right now but i don't think that really has any effect on the tek, or at least i think i will still be able to use my sized cakes.

with a mono tub how do you dunk?
