Tips curling UP! Newbie warning...

Hey guys, it's my first time posting on the forums, but a long time visitor! Just a heads up, this is my first indoor grow. I've done multiple outdoor in the past, which have been quite successful, but this one isn't.

Here's some backround/info on the current grow:
Environment: Mr grow pro stealth pc case http://www.mrgrowpro.net/
Soil: FFOF
Lighting: 45W LED's
Strains: CH9 Super Haze, DNA 60 day Lemon Auto
Temp: Been as high as 85F, but typically ~80F
Humidity: Varies quite a bit, but typically hovers between 30-40%
Watering: Started off not testing PH, and have been using filtered tap water. I would water whenever the first 2-ish inches of soil were dry. I recently acquired a PH meter, and my filtered tap runs ~8.2PH. I corrected it to 6.7PH two days ago...

So my issue: Sprouted 10 days ago. At day 4, both seedlings started to curl the leaves up. I immediately attributed this to underwatering (figured they couldn't transpire), because I hadn't watered for a couple days. I was so concerned about OVER-watering, that I let it go an extra day once the soil was dry. The following day, that's when they started to curl up. Since day 4-5, there hasn't been ANY signs of new growth until recently. One of the plants looks like it has some new growth and may be coming back, but i'm planning on scrapping both seedlings and starting from scratch.
So instead of starting a new grow and repeating the same mistakes, i'd like to figure out what I did wrong, so I don't do it again. I haven't seen any posts describing my situation. The only information I could find was in the growers bible... Said tips curling up is indicative of the plant being stressed from heat and not able to transpire. My theory is that it was a combination of under-watering and too high of a PH. Is there something that i'm missing?

Thanks in advance,
Moer

.your temps were too high, keep them about 75 always and never over 80...add to that the weather has been dry so your humidity is pretty low and it becomes very easy to dehydrate plant tissue with that combo..

Idk about leds but id only veg with flouros not an hid or led IF the led is creating heat, vegging with flouros is more than sufficient and last thing I can think of is to mention to you that seedlings do not need to dry out quite like vegging plants, seedlings like high moisture levels and will die if dried out..just keep some air movement and that first week or so keep them nice and damp

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible to grow healthy plants in the 80-85F range? I have great air circulation, but can't guarantee that I can maintain a temp below 80F during the summer months. Right now it's sitting at 76F but once summer kicks in, it's going to be in the range of 80-85. Will my "mature" vegging plants be able to take that increase in heat? I've grown in very humid/warm environments outdoors (80-90F) and they have been fine...What is the threshold? And are you positive it was due to the heat? I can't find any literature or pictures on tips curling up, aside from the aforementioned book...

The only way you will succeed with those temps is by adding co2 optimal temp is closer to 85 with co2 supplements however now your opening a can of worms if you don't already have experience growing pot

Thanks for the input. I've brought the temps down to 75. Anyone else wanna chime in?

If temps are a prob try upping the cfm on your exhaust fan...

and u mentioned scrapping a droppy seedling?

I once had a clone that I totally forgot about that I let sit in Fox Farm for like no shit 2 weeks before I noticed that it was all crispy and bone dry...no water nothin...I literally grabbed it by grow plug the roots ripped all out cause It was it on a rapid rooter and I transplanted it to hydro dwc...1 week later new root growth, perked up, praying up to the light...

dont give up on your gals they will come back!

I uprooted one of the girls out of frustration, she was plenty gone. The other one has new growth, but is severely stunted. Waiting on a shipment of new seeds, then I'll decide whether or not to hang on to her. I just wanted to make sure that I isolated the issue before starting a new set. I'm planning on starting the next round in 1gal pots so I don't have to worry about transplanting. Cheers!
